| Loretta
Devine currently nominated and a four time NAACP Image Award winner has
created indelible roles on Broadway, in theatre, film and television. Ms.
Devine created the role of ‘Lorell’ in Michael Bennett’s
“Dreamgirls,” ‘Lillian’ in Bob Fosse’s “Big
Deal” on Broadway and ‘Lala’ in George Wolfe’s “Colored
Museum” at the Public in N.Y., the Mark Taper in Los Angeles and in
London. Her best known films include “Waiting to Exhale”, “Preachers Wife”, “Kingdom Come”, “Urban Legends” I and II, “Hoodlums”, “What Women Want”, and “I am Sam” along with many television credits including “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge,” “Funny Valentines” and as ‘Marla Hendricks’ in David E. Kelley’s “Boston Public.” Ms. Devine also a singer, poet and a creator of wearable art received an honorary Doctorate of Human Letters from her alma mater, The University of Houston in 2003. |
